Early Puritans and Salem Witch Trials

In 1692, nineteen men and women were convicted of witchcraft and were sent to Gallows Hill to be hung. There were many other people also convicted but were sent to jail or, like one man, crushed to death. It was said that the witches used dogs as their agents to obey their 'devilish' commands. If anyone at all were to talk about witchcraft or anything along those lines, they would be accused of being a witch and was to be turned in and sent to court. Witchcraft was a very touchy subject back then.
